Part fibre and landline

Hi,

Apologies if this question has been asked before.

I have an existing broadband + phone line contract. I want to upgrade to fibre but keep my phone line. Currently, when logged into my account, the “exclusive” upgrade offers are Full Fibre only: 74/145/500/900 but none include the landline.

But if I view fibre offers here https://www.plus.net/signup/choose-broadband/ there are two offers:

  • Unlimited Fibre 38 - 40Mb "Phone line included"
  • Unlimited Fibre Extra, 44 - 58Mb, "Phone line included"

Why can’t I see these offers when I’m logged into my account?Huh

@megapixel

PN do not offer a landline service with Full Fibre. To keep your number you need to port it out to a VOIP provider (after the FTTP install).

Why can’t I see these offers when I’m logged into my account?

Possibly because you are in a 'Fibre priority' area. Whilst you can continue with your existing product, Openreach will not accept any orders for non FTTP products.

Use the BT wholesale checker https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL to see what is available to you.

Check the 'Exchange Product restrictions' section, if it says Fibre Priority Exchange , Status 'y' , then thats the case

Re: Part fibre and landline

@megapixel  You may be in a Fibre Priority exchange area where the FTTC  services (Unlimited Fibre and Fibre Extra) are no longer available to order, this is an Operreach decision and Plusnet have no say in the matter. What does this checker tell you for your phone number ?

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

Look at the text below the speed estimates for Fibre Priority.

@MisterW  You beat me to it (again).🙄

Re: Part fibre and landline

Thank you for the reply (and to other too). The BT broadband checker says:

"FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.

The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme"

I guess my best option might be to flip the phone line back to BT and go for Full Fibre (with PN). I guess I also need to enquire about cost of FTTP...

Thanks again.

in that case , the other Unlimited Fibre & extra products ought to be available ( unless there's no spare port in the cabinet )

Does it say VDSL is available ?

Re: Part fibre and landline

BT checker says VDSL is "available"

It also says "WBC FTTP" is a "featured product". So, it's all looking good - and I'm learning a whole new set of acronyms!

Re: Part fibre and landline

@megapixel

Is WBC FTTP in the left hand column and does it say Available over to the right?
