I've tried to sign up friends but failed because of the 1GB usage limit. With Tiscali/Talk Talk offering comparable starter broadband packages but unlimited (OK 'fair usage'), it's hard to get referrals. 1GB is enough most of the time for surfers, but not always. So why not increase it to 2GB since Options 2 and 3 have now had their limits increased?

This is why the usage thresholds should be increased for the Option 1 - £9.99. Taken from Martins Money Tips today - How sorry do you feel for people being sent to Tiscali ?!!!
URGENT! New cheapest unlimited broadband deal at just £11/months. Updated Article
Until the end of May, Tiscali* has a promotion that you can get its broadband package for £4.49 for three months followed by £12.99, averaging out at £10.87/month. With this package you can, within reason, download all the films, music, software you want without going over your allowance. As its less than a quid more than PlusNet* which has a relatively restricted 1GB download limit, it’s a good deal. Yet if you’re an o2* mobile users you can get it’s unlimited package for £7.50/month. For the full options read the Updated Article: Cheapest Broadband Related Article: Cheapest Home Phones, Free Wireless Internet
apart from anything else as a busy referrer i find that people arent happy with just 1gb despite being a low user and as a result both PN and me miss out !!
regards
Richard

When we learned of the new increases at the open day I asked about Option 1 although I really knew the answer already - very little money is made on this package and this is why it has not been upgraded.
I am therefore surprised to learn that this is being looked at.
As an Option 1 user I am not complaining, although I agree with the above comments regarding TalkTalk.
However, I don't think that you can compare PN with TT in terms of customer service and provision, particularly as PN are only dealing with broadband and therefore are, I suppose 'specialists'.
The only downside of Option 1 is that when I am expecting update downloads I have to schedule them in the free time or else it would severely dent my usage, although I could be being a bit mean - maybe I should just pay up for an extra gigabyte, although I would only make a very small hole in it.
