Re: Mystery 123 calls

Often used by Openreach Engineers to check lines; complain to PN about it, and
they should cancel.
Why they haven't access to a line that's free is a mystery.

Hi @mort7890,

If you could drop me a PM with the username for that account I can look further into it for you.

Re: Mystery 123 calls

Strange to see 123 mentioned here. Had one on my last BT bill.

Was over 50p for a two second call. I couldn't place making such a call.

After reading this post I think I'll be giving BT a ring.

Re: Mystery 123 calls

It's no mystery -

https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2015/11/phantom-calls-to-the-123-speaking-clock-on-bt-openreac...

More likely to be Kelly's or Quinn contractors than Openreach.

To err is human, but to really foul things up requires an algorithm.

@Gel

They do have access to a free line-testing service number - i.e. 17070

I suspect it's quicker to dial 3 digits than 5, and it's free to them as the customer whose line has just been 'tested' by calling '123' gets landed with the bill.
