I look after a Church Account and we have been charged for 9 calls to 123

Often used by Openreach Engineers to check lines; complain to PN about it, and
they should cancel.
Why they haven't access to a line that's free is a mystery.

Strange to see 123 mentioned here. Had one on my last BT bill.

Was over 50p for a two second call. I couldn't place making such a call.

After reading this post I think I'll be giving BT a ring.

They do have access to a free line-testing service number - i.e. 17070

I suspect it's quicker to dial 3 digits than 5, and it's free to them as the customer whose line has just been 'tested' by calling '123' gets landed with the bill.
