Mid-contract full fibre upgrade and static IP

Hi,

My "Unlimited Fibre" (FTTC) contract is up for renewal soon, and the customer portal is offering me the "Fibre" package which includes the "Full Fibre promise", and I have three questions before I commit to the renewal if you can advise on these points, please?

- My property is part of an Openreach "connect my community" full fibre rollout scheme funded by Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme vouchers. I've pledged my voucher which commits me to purchasing a full fibre package when full fibre is available at my property as part of the scheme - this is likely to be in the next few months. If I upgrade to a full fibre package mid-contract under the Plusnet "Full Fibre promise", does this fulfil the requirements of the voucher scheme?

- If I purchase the "Fibre" package and I want to upgrade to full fibre under the "Full Fibre promise", do I need to register my interest for full fibre now (if so, where do I do this?), or do I just contact Plusnet to upgrade when Openreach advise full fibre is available?

- When I upgrade to a full fibre package, do I keep my static IP?

Many thanks for any help you can provide!

Re: Mid-contract full fibre upgrade and static IP

I've got an add-on question for this.

If I switch to Full Fibre, I presumably need to upgrade to a Hub Two router. Can I do this myself?

If I need to be on-site (for engineer or router delivery) what sort of lead time is involved - I may be out of the country at the time and have to schedule a return to the UK?

Re: Mid-contract full fibre upgrade and static IP

@fudoka You should really have started your own topic on this - it is not really an add-on, but a totally different question. Thread hijacking is not a good practice.

Anyway, to answer your questions (1) If you did switch to FTTP, yes a Hub2 router is the current ISP supplied kit recommended for that product. (2) You (or someone 18+ with authority from you) does need to be at the premises for the actual installation. (3) The Hub is sent via RM Tracked24 to arrive 2/3 days before a confirmed installation date, and is packed such that it will fit through a normal letterbox.

@crgbt

You should separate out the Community Voucher  Scheme from your thinking.

The question then becomes: Can I upgrade from FTTC to FTTP soon after receiving a voucher?

Also be aware that it can take longer than you might think for the service to be installed and available. You also have a month before you order FF after Openreach advise that it is available.
I would not worry about it.

Currently you can keep your static IP address.

Re: Mid-contract full fibre upgrade and static IP

Sorry for the hijack (as such) but I too, need to check that I keep the static IP etc. so starting a new topic would probably get me flamed for repeating the same questions. 🙂

Yes, @fudoka , you keep the static IP, but your response suggested you had different questions - which should be in a different topic. The OP was a specific situation which should be left to run alone to avoid confusion.

Re: Mid-contract full fibre upgrade and static IP

That's great, thank you. So, just so it's clear in my mind - the voucher doesn't really complicate the issue, and Plusnet will allow me to upgrade from FTTC to FTTP mid-contract?
