I was with Plusnet last year having got a great deal from them being in a low cost area.
At renewal I moved to BT because they had a fantastic deal and Plusnet renewal couldn't come close.
This year, time to move back to Plusnet as a new customer but now I am told I am NOT in a low cost area and cannot have the deals!
I smell a rat.
Neither my exchange or myself have moved!
Are they coming up with an excuse so I don't get the 'new customer' offers again?
Any comments please

Moved to account/billing from General Chat.
If it helped click the thumb
If it fixed it click 'This fixed my problem'

If you search for an exchange here https://availability.samknows.com/broadband it will tell you the classification in the bottom right

Hi
Dvorak's link is broken. Try https://availability.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search
The exchange classifications are typically: Market 1, Market 2 or Market 3.
Plusnet's low cost areas are the Market 2 or 3 exchanges.
Market 1 exchanges are the high cost areas.

That classification is years out of date.
Exchanges are either Market "A" or "B" with "B being the cheaper option.
The DSL Checker will show which market an exchange belongs to.

Hi BenB,
I ended up getting a better renewal deal from BT.
Strange as I have taken advantage of 'new customer' deals from PlusNet in the past and always got the deal.
This time, they would not give me any deal (even as a new customer) and even put the price up saying I was in a 'high cost' area. Just funny how I wasn't before.
I checked with various companies and EE came top for price with £100 cashback. So I averaged it out and rang BT, told them 'this is what I will pay' and after a few minutes of them telling me I 'had to return the router' they decided to give me what I asked for.
So, I ended up staying with BT at a better deal than EE's new customer deal.
Funny, yesterday Plusnet rang me up to offer me a better deal than the one they had before (still didn't beat the deal I cut with BT though). However, that is how they lost my custom last time, I told them I don't like messing about and want the best deal and no good ringing me up after I change. Sure enough, that is exactly what they did, ring me up after I went to BT.
This time the same, they rang me up with their 'revised' offer, but again, too late.
How stupid are these companies. They tell you over and over again that, that is the best deal they can give. When you sign up with another company, suddenly they can give you a better deal. Too late, again!
Cheers
Martin
