Link from forum signature?

Hi,
I have had a couple of referrals made from users who have seen comments in ISP discussions on the likes of playstation forums etc, my question is, is it possible to include a link on my forum signature for these and other forums? I have tried adding banners/buttons but all that shows is the code, ie no image or hyperlinking.
I do use games forums a fair bit, and of course would welcome the referrals that could be made from this source, as I'm sure you would be too Smiley
Thanks, Michael

Re: Link from forum signature?

Hi Michael.
I reckon that the easiest way to work this would be to select "text links" from the drop down box Here and paste that into your sig.
You might want to bear in mind a couple of points.
Many forums forbid referral links and also limit the number of characters contained in sigs but hopefully you'll manage this with the forums you frequent.
Hope that helps.

Re: Link from forum signature?

Hi mark thanks for reply,
I couldn't get text link to work either, wasn't exceeding character/line limit, I think there's something really simple I am supposed to be doing but just can't figure it out!
Ah well never mind Smiley

Re: Link from forum signature?

The text link the referral page gives you is in HTML, for forums this needs to be changed to BB code.
What you need is similar to this:-

Up to 8Mb PlusNet broadband from only £9.99 a month!

The 'Your referral link here' will need to be the link you get from the referral page, it's the highlighted part of the code below.
<a href='http://www.plus.net/myreferrals/new.html?w645oK3%2FCguHYxTpF%2BrJmfAs%3D'><br>Up to 8Mb PlusNet broadband from only £9.99 a month!
That link is actually my referral link, so you'll need to update it to yours instead.

Re: Link from forum signature?

Chris, I've made the link unclickable in your post - I've had hassles before with stray referrals cookies getting onto my machine from peoples posts on the old portal.

Whoops, thought I'd already done that. Cheers James.
I've actually munged some of the URL too so it can't be copy pasted Cheesy

Re: Link from forum signature?

Some forums may not allow links and/or images in their signatures as policy.
Does anybody else on said forum have a link, referral or not?

Your code appears to be half HTML "<a href=", half BBCODE [/URL] 🙂

Re: Link from forum signature?

Yeah, we have some basic html turned on on the boards, so it tries to parse some html tags into bbcode tags.
Ya' know, just to spice things up a little and add to the confuddlement. Wink

Not sure if this is directed at me as OP, but if so, yeah, some have links to web sites, clan sites etc, can't remember off hand if any linked to images or just text, I know some have in hyperlinks kinda thang where the text shown is different to the url.

Re: Link from forum signature?

hmmm the link used to give the image below is parsed slightly differently..
....URL=http://www.speedtest.net][/URL]
with no bracket after the first url, wonder if thats where i went wrong...
(first bracket removed intentionally as the img just showed up twice)
