Question?

PN:
Does option to leave without penalty, apply to the BB element of package too if you want to cancel phone because of phone price uplift?Huh

Yes of course you can. Think about it, that would be a penalty if you couldn't...

Re: Leave Plusnet for FREE while in contract due to price increases

UPDATE:

I have had a CHAT session on this & it was confirmed that due to contract change ie price uplift on one element (phone),

you can cancel whole package at no cost, though they'll try to retain you with new offer.

Forum not allowing me to post image so attach CHAT extract.

@Gel

Please don't use the word CANCEL as that bad implications for people leaving due to the price increase. CS can really mess up switching away when a customer uses the C word.

What you want to say is the people affected by the price increase are free to switch without exit or penalty fees to an alternative supplier.

Re: Leave Plusnet for FREE while in contract due to price increases

Normally when switching isp, advice is not to advise incumbent ie PN.

However, to avoid penalty I unfortunately have to advise PN, to avail myself of the option to cancel contract within 30

days of increase e mail @ no £cost£.

PN CS staff should understand that; they'll get more than 14 days, BUT I obviously don't want

them to switch me off before migration date agreed with new isp.

Re: Leave Plusnet for FREE while in contract due to price increases

It is how you word it.

Yes you must tell PN that you are leaving on account of the price rise which affects you but as you said, you have to be exceptionally clear as to what is happening and that a new supplier will be in touch with regards to switching you. You also have to start the switch with a reasonable time frame.

But if any CS staff hears the word cancel then all bets are off as to what will actually happen to your account.

Re: Leave Plusnet for FREE while in contract due to price increases

Presumably any remaining months of annual line rental paid in advance are non-refundable?

I think we'll be switching to another ISP regardless.  We've been with Plusnet about three years now and it's time for us to move on.

Re: Leave Plusnet for FREE while in contract due to price increases

Yes LRS payment is now repayable; wasn't the case previously.
I found a PN Cancellation Form which I mailed to PN Sheffield with covering letter
advising of my intention to leave due to price increase; they've acknowledged via
secure message.
With new provider, also Sheffield based I seem to have a complication in that they
advise that only when BB is taken over by them, can I order phone service.
As this could be 10 days from my first requesting, it seems at odd with OFGEM's
policy of seamless /effortless transfer of service.

Re: Leave Plusnet for FREE while in contract due to price increases

My monthly fees have also gone up.  The additional  "benefits: they offer have absolutely NO relevance to me as a customer.  Its a ripoff!!!!!!  Seriously considering switching as a result.
