My current contract with Plusnet ends on 15 Jan 2026, on which date I shall be transferring to Zen. Openreach have confirmed the transfer on 15 Jan 2026.
My latest bill shows a charge for the period 16 Jan 2026 - 22 Jan 2026 at the out-of-contract rate.
My billing period runs 23rd - 22nd of each month.
I am aware that payment is taken in advance, but was surprised to see a charge for services in advance that I have not agreed to. I trust that the extra charge after 15 Jan will be refunded promptly after the Plusnet services cease?

When you sign up with Plusnet, it does not have an end date. The offer is for a fixed time at a fixed rate, after which the price automatically reverts to the 'out of fixed contract' rate. This means that your connection is not cancelled at the end of the fixed term if, in this instance, Openreach fails to transfer your service on the 15th. Providing you leave your Direct Debit in place you will receive a refund about 3 weeks after the service is transferred.
