Early cancellation charge?

Hi,

Received an email from Plusnet as near to my contract end date, stating "If you decide to leave before the end of your current contract you can do so without paying any early termination fees". So I moved to another provider then received another email from Plusnet stating I will owe £13.94. Does this make sense to anyone?

I guess that it depends when you leave compared with your billing date, you pay for phone line and broadband in advance.. The other factor is that although you could leave without penalty there's also a 14 day notice period to consider.
