Early Cancellation of contract

I recently cancelled my contract with plusnet and transferred to EE. I had just paid my annual line rental charge to plusnet - £197.88 on the 3rd of March. The contract was cancelled within the 14 days of paying this charge - on the 14th April, on which date I received an acknowledgement email. I have been informed that I will not get any of this back. I contacted [CSA Removed] at Customer support by phone on the 20th April to query this and spoke to [CSA Removed], who told me he would escalate this and that I would get an email with a decision. To date I have received no email. Please advise.
