Downgrading my full fibre broadband

Just had a right old faff.  Thought I would upgrade my broadband package to Full Fibe 900.  Really easy to do, but after a week and a chat with a very helpful tech person at Plusnet, it looks like the speed issues I have was not down to my previous broadband.  So, decided to revert to my original package, which is £7 cheaper.  Given that my new contract states that I am in a cooling off period and all I had to do was contact Plusnet to downgrade, I thought this would be a doddle.  NOT SO!.  Apparently you can't be downgraded - even after only a week of the updgrade!  I have now got to have the my account completely cancelled and restarted as a new customer!  Which means setting up a new direct debit, etc.

To add insult to injury, I also have to pay a month in advance and I have only just paid for this month's broadband, so double whammy!  There should be a warning on the upgrade  promotions that downgrading will be an absolute PAIN IN THE A**SE!

@calandtheboys was your previous package a Full fibre one , albeit at a slower speed ?

If it was then

Apparently you can't be downgraded - even after only a week of the updgrade!
