Direct Debit date - ITCAN BE CHANGED

Could someone advise why in this thread from 4 years ago it seems possible to change the DD date by simply "raising a ticket" and PMing Mand ?

It just seems that you cannot be bothered.........................

Re: Direct Debit date - ITCAN BE CHANGED

The reason it isn't done is that it caused absolute chaos with the backend systems
The fact that Mand did it once is no reason to assume that they can't be bothered

Re: Direct Debit date - ITCAN BE CHANGED

Sorry, but there appears to be a lot more than ONE person asking and getting their dates changed.
Chronic inertia is the root cause..................

Re: Direct Debit date - ITCAN BE CHANGED

It's really got nothing to do with us not being bothered.
There's a perfectly good reason we can't change billing dates - it doesn't behave very well with our current billing engine.
We appreciate this isn't all that helpful, as well as many other things to do with our Billing system which is why we've kicked off a project to implement an improved solution.

Re: Direct Debit date - ITCAN BE CHANGED

The thread is 4 YEARS OLD and you still have a system that is not fit for purpose.
You can call it whatever you want but I still say CHRONIC INERTIA if, as a Company, you have made NO PROGRESS in 4 years.
Wish I had the luxury of putting things off for 4 years in my job

I'm sorry you feel that way.
All I will say is that we're on with implementing a new billing system.

From the linked thread:

Mandy, a guy called Peter Coventry called me yesterday and sorted it out for me. Thanks anyway,

Quote from: Mand
Yeah, unfortunately what he did wasn't correct. I've sorted it now, but had to do some funky stuff. Please ignore the emails you'll have just been sent, you're on the right product with the right billing date now. Smiley

More often than not it goes wrong (and Pete Coventry is far from being an idiot) - that's why they stopped doing it.

Re: Direct Debit date - ITCAN BE CHANGED

So what affect would me cancelling my DD and sending them a cheque at some random date after I receive a  bill from them have on their "billing system" ?

Re: Direct Debit date - ITCAN BE CHANGED

One affect would be that you'd be charged extra for not paying by DD!
