Is that the phone line “infrastructure”?

An ISP can order Fibre on Demand but plusnet isn't one of them.

Check -> This information could be useful

I thought the Scottish government had a scheme for rural fibre broadband?

yes, it is called 'R100' (ie reach 100%)

https://www.openreach.com/news/r100-broadband-upgrades-reach-57000-scottish-properties/

The 'DIY' voucher only applies if you are not in the R100 plan - which suggests R100 is not actually reaching 100%.

Re: Contract cancel due to low speeds, instability and continually hanging of service

@KenMavor

The Openreach page has changed since the last time I looked. I believe the message means it is in OR's plans but no detailed planning has yet been done. It is coming - just when.

I was going to mention there are other SG schemes. You've nothing to lose by putting your post code in the scheme I mentioned and seeing what it says.

I asked about your neighbours speed as if he falls below 10 down he could ask about USO. No harm in asking!!.

I tried them before the R100 FTTP turned up.  At the time I was ~2Mb ADSL, and the neighbours no better than 7Mb.

"Our map says there is outdoor 4G mobile reception - go outdoors with your phone or buy a 4G router and an outdoor aerial"

Not particularly useful in progressing things, or downright misleading as the R100 FTTP to my exchange was well advanced by then.

Re: Contract cancel due to low speeds, instability and continually hanging of service

Have sent emails to three suppliers recognised by SG.

I'll see what they say.

Seems £5k voucher available.

3 other neighbours below 10 and all keen to join the crusade

@KenMavor

Will be very interesting to hear their responses.

I was going to say that as you're in OR plans vouchers may not be available.

Any sign of BTOR boots on the ground yet?  I know that the review date is tomorrow, but one can live in hope.

Re: Contract cancel due to low speeds, instability and continually hanging of service

As the Foreigner song goes........

"I'm still waiting for ........"

I did get a text from OR to say that my supplier had reported a fault.  That was it.  No estimate as to when they would be looking at it.

I did a test with my next door neighbour.......uploaded a file to Youtube....the same file.

Used ether next connection direct to the router.....his took 17 mins....mine was still going at 1 hour 10 minutes when I cancelled it.  Used my macbook both times.

I still see continual freezing and resets.

Anyway I can chase OR?

No, but you can ask PN if they have an update, but that will have needed to come from OR and they will not entertain a chase until after the next review date / time has passed.

Re: Contract cancel due to low speeds, instability and continually hanging of service

@KenMavor Hi Ken,

Checked on the fault report to see if there's any updates, newest update was this morning advising an engineer has been issued. No further updates at the moment but the fault is still set to be repaired by end of play today.

I'll check on the fault report tomorrow for you and see what OR have advised.

All the best

Re: Contract cancel due to low speeds, instability and continually hanging of service

Just had a call from the engineer saying the fault has been fixed.

I have rebooted the router and will monitor fir a couple of days.

Can't say I'm convinced. Call me Mr sceptical.

Mr Skeptical,

Can you please post your current router stats?
