Contract Length / Cost Clarification

Good afternoon
I have been a customer of MAAF/Plusnet now for over 10 years & with my contract coming to an end was contemplating jumping ship due to a competitor offering 18 months free unlimited internet, free anytime calls for 6 months, a £75 shopping voucher plus £90.90 cashback.
The best deal offered today by a member of the retention team was a further 12 months @ £2.50 per month. I enquired about the free unlimited internet for 12 months but was advised that this was an 18 month contract & after the 12 months the next 6 months would be @ £9.99. I couldn't really understand this as this would equate to £59.94 for 18 months when 12 months would be just £30.
I decided to opt for the £2.50 per month as I have been pleased with the service over the years & this was the only option available however after researching a little more it would appear that the free period of 12 months is on a 12 month contract according to the information & link on MSE. I have also just read on the forums that another customer was not only offered the free unlimited broadband for 12 months but also the £50 cashback deal available to new customers in order to retain the business.
I would be grateful for your comments.
Many thanks.

Re: Contract Length / Cost Clarification

I'm speaking with a colleague about this, though it may take a while for him to respond. Will update this thread today.

Re: Contract Length / Cost Clarification

I've just tried calling you on your landline but couldn't get through. As we'll be discussing account specific details, would you mind PM'ing me a convenient time to speak?

Re: Contract Length / Cost Clarification

Thank you for your message Matty & apologies for not being available to take your call. I shall be unavailable for the remainder of the day but as I'm not requesting account specific information but seeking clarification regarding contract length, charge & cash back, perhaps you could update via the forum or by PM.
Also, please could you confirm as to whether the cooling off period is 7 or 14 days after the date the renewal was agreed.
Many thanks for your assistance.
