Connecting a landline

Can i connect a phone to my ADSL filter without extra charges?

i have a a broadband only deal but im still paying line rental and have a landline number so can i plug in a phone that i have laying around to do a line test or will i get charges for this. i don't intend to make any calls really i just want to plug it in.

thanks for any response i understand this is a noob question but i want to be certain my bill isn't going to rise simply for plugging in a phone many thanks Adam

Re: Connecting a landline

never mind after further investigation i do not need to plug a phone in to test anything my socket was wired by a... less competent person it seems and that's what's causing my issue

@adamspluset Welcome to the forum.  🙂

Thanks for reporting back.

For future reference, it's a good idea to have a phone handy in case you need to test for noise should a line fault ever arise.

No charges will arise, even if you use it to call customer services, as that's an 0800 number.
