I have the free evenings and weekend calls package and on my latest bill I have been charged £4.20 for a call made on a weekend to a local UK landline lasting 1 hour 27 mins. If I get the first hour free, why have I been charged £4.20 for a 27 minute local call?

@jojo2 Welcome to the forum.
I have not done the sums but assume that the wording is ‘calls up to an hour are free’. Not, the first hour of calls are free.

Doesn't mention any time limits on the Plusnet website?

Welcome to the Forum
This may help
Inclusive call length
- Inclusive calls to UK numbers become chargeable after 60 minutes
- Inclusive calls to international numbers become chargeable after 60 minutes
- Calls to Plusnet Support are free for the duration of the call, regardless of length
Inclusive calls that become chargeable are charged at the relevant rate until the end of the call. The call set up fee is not applied.
The call must have been nearly 28 minutes so rounded up to 28 x .015p = £4.20

@jojo2 It's all detailed here https://www.plus.net/help/legal/residential-phone-tariffs/
The relevant phrase is
Inclusive calls to UK numbers become chargeable after 60 minutes
The standard call rate is 15p/min rounded up to the next minute, so assuming your call was 1hr, 27 mins and some seconds, it will have been rounded to 28 mins. 28 * 0.15 gives the £4.20.
edit: @Anonymous beat me to it...
The bottom line is, keep a check on how long the call is lasting. If you get close to 1 hour then ring off and remake the call. It's a pain, I've been caught once...

Sorry I was wrong. I’ve looked up the price guide here. https://www.plus.net/help/legal/residential-phone-tariffs/
Calls are rounded up to the nearest minute. 28 minutes at 15p a minute equals £4.20.
Edit,
I’m obviously late to the party, I just couldn’t believe that landline calls are £9 per hour plus the set up charge.

@jojo2 After 1 hour the standard charge for all UK calls is 15 pence per minute. That's why I use my mobile for outgoing calls.🙄

Sorry MisterW
I think we were equal but the costs have jumped from 0.04p per minute to 0.15p a huge jump
Would have been 28 x .04p so would have been only £1.12

Totally agree a big rip off
You can get a mobile on a 30 day rolling contract with U/L minutes which can be at anytime U/L texts and 3GB data if you use it for £6 per month
