Changing payment method problems

Had changed my account over to credit card billing from DD a couple of weeks back but my internet was cut off straight away on my payment due date (yesterday) saying I hadn't paid my bill. A bit harsh considering the years I have been here and never 'missed' a payment before. I re-checked my account and it was still set to pay by credit card. Just wondered what might have happened here? I paid the bill immediately to restore my service (via my mobile) but am just worried it might happen again next month. Live chat was unavailable and I didn't have the time to sit in the phone queue for customer services.
