Changing (or removing) call plan - has started a new contract....

 

I've read all the threads and posts suggesting changing a call plan would not change the contract length.  However I was out of a fixed contract term and changed my call plan (no other changes were made) and I've been put on a new 18 month contract.

Has the position changed recently as all of the threads suggest this should not affect anything?
