Cancelling old BT services

Hi,
I've just signed up to plusnet from BT. Awaiting MAC code and transfer etc.
Do I need to explicitly cancel old BT services e.g. BT sport? Don't want to find they start billing for that.
Thanks!

Re: Cancelling old BT services

You should not need to cancel the telephone and broadband, it should be automatic when the MAC is used.  You should probably explicitly cancel BT Sport, unless you were just using the free one that was part of your broadband contract.
It may help to ring up BT about 2 weeks before the transfer date to confirm; but do not use the word cancel, rather use migrate or transfer.  There have been cases of BT interpreting cancel to mean cancelling the entire line, not just cancelling your contract with them.

Thanks, yes the sports was part of the broadband deal so hopefully won't need to do anything about it then.

Re: Cancelling old BT services

Good morning, sjptd  is spot on. When using a MAC code this automatically generates a transfer request in the wholesale system. Once the broadband completes, this takes 5 - 7 working days to transfer the service. Once the broadband order completes the phone order is then placed. So don't worry that you receive a bill from BT after the broadband has migrated, in this matter please be mindful if you do not have a call plan from BT and taking one with Plusnet.
Hope you enjoy your new service Smiley
