Cancellation request processed

I'll be moving to LLU at the end of this month.  Today I received an email saying my account will be closing as the line is migrating away, then a second giving me the date my account will finish.  Does this mean I don't have to call to cancel the account.
And is it too late to get my account downgraded.  I'd like to be able to keep my PN email addresses.

Re: Cancellation request processed

As I understand it keeping the email addresses without payment is no longer an option.

5  When an account is closed, access to all account features provided by Plusnet will be removed. This includes email, hosted web-space and Member Centre access (including discussion forums and access to the Help Assistant Ticketing system).
6  It is possible, when requesting an account cancellation, to request a downgrade to a mail only package for £20 a year instead of full account closure. This will allow continued access to email and some member centre features. This option must be requested at the time of cancellation.
You can ignore the bit about the discussion forums as that is not correct

Re: Cancellation request processed

I meant downgrading to the paid mail only package.

Re: Cancellation request processed

@Oldjim,
I understood that there was such thing as PAYG in offing to keep your emails going with PN.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks,
Chandu.

Re: Cancellation request processed

@chandu
I can't since I am not aware of it
@suzyb
As long as the account hasn't actually been cancelled and therefore the emails are working I don't see why you shouldn't be able to do it - why don't you phone support and then, if you don't get a satisfactory answer, flag it up here for the reps in the morning

Thanks,

You used to be able to downgrade to dialup PAYG and keep the emails - but that is apparently not available now.

Hi suzyb,
I've arranged for you to keep your email and dropped you a ticket to confirm this.

Thanks Cheesy
One quick question, how does the PAYG work?

Re: Cancellation request processed

When you connect to Plusnet using an old 56kbps dialup modem you will be charged by the minute. If you never do so you won't be charged. I suspect you don't even own a dialup modem so you have no chance of connecting!

Re: Cancellation request processed

Hi suzyb,
It's just to keep your account open so you can still use your email.

Re: Cancellation request processed

@suzyb,
It's worth pointing out that you need to log into the email account at least once every three months, or it'll go deactive and you'll lose any email that's stored on the servers.
EDIT: It can be reactivated of course but there's not much chance that we'd be able to retrieve any missing emails.

Re: Cancellation request processed

@Matt Taylor one unasked question you didn't preempt, does suzy have to use the dialup to check emails via an email client or will she have to use webmail?

Re: Cancellation request processed

The email account needs to be logged into at least once every 90 days to collect any mail but this can be done from any connection using either a standard email client or webmail. So no need to use dial-up.

Re: Cancellation request processed

Can I also send emails using the account.  I checked the help and believe you can from a non plusnet connection if using SMTP authentication but does this include PAYG accounts.
