I would also like to switch my line rental from Plusnet to another provider.
I am contracted until May 2012 apparently.
I would only stay with Plusnet if they offered me more bandwidth a month and also a better router for my home extension.
I do not mind about my line rental with Plusnet but not willing to pay £90 to cancel my broadband! Thats ridiculous!

The £90 breaks down as follows
£40.00 router (will expire in May)
£25.00 Set up charge (will expire in May)
£25.00 Cessation charge (only applicable if you don't use a MAC to migrate to another provider)
When you say more bandwidth, do you mean speed or allowance?

I can purchase a better router although I was offered a N Router for free but another 12 months from today.
Reason I did not go for it is because I have got free plusnet for a year therefore its pointless me trying to be convinced to go for the 40GB allowance for £11.49 extra a month!

If you upgrade to the 60GB package you can keep the discounts you currently have.

If you log into our website and look at the bar across the top there's a link that says 'product change' - that'll show you your options, then if you select a different account type the change will happen on your next billing date.
Hope that helps.

The discounts are re-applied once the change has taken place, this means that they will apply £6.49 discount for the remainder of your offer.

Out of interest what exactly does PlusNet or BT do for the £50 set up and disconnect charge, does someone pop round to carry out the operation?

Quote from: christmas If a customer already had a router and did not require one from PlusNet and returned it unopenned or unused would the £40 charge be waivered?
Within 7 days, yes.

Because an engineer will need to carry out work at the exchange.

I notice on the home page for a 12 month subscription a router is included and if the customer wants a monthly subscription they are required to pay upfront £40 for the router.
Am I right in thinking if someone didn't want a router but wanted a monthly subscription they would not have to pay the £40 upfront?
Hope that makes sense, I'm looking to cancel my subscription and looking at certain options.
