I check my online banking daily and was vert surprised to see two
direct debits to BT.
I have no business with bt and wondered if this is something to
do with plusnet who, already have a direct debit and have been
paid.?
Natrurally, I cancled the bt dd's

Rather puzzling as Plusnet DDs show as PLUSNET PLC.
When I moved phone line from BT to Plusnet BT cancelled DD after taking final payment.

If you have no business with BT then the payments have been taken in error.
You can claim immediate repayment from your Bank under the Direct Debit Guarantee.
