Apparently overcharged for Essentials? [No, just me being dim]

In the past I've been privately rather contemptuous of folk who don't check their bills properly, but I'm embarrassed to say I've only just noticed the following.
I switched from my 2006-vintage BB+ to Broadband Essentials in January 2013. My account summary (and the current PN product pages) tells me Essentials costs £5.99/ month.
However checking my direct debits and email notifications from PN, I see I've been charged £8.49/month since the switch (less a referrals credit of 50p, so a net of £7.99)
It's my billing day today and I haven't been given a referrals credit this month either (I checked to see it was active, which it is, and that's how I became aware of the apparent overcharge for my service)
I've raised a ticket (#68350174) but thought I'd ask here anyway ...

Clearly you are on the no contract option - at least as far as billing are concerned - did you agree to the 12 month tie in when you changed
