Hi, It's difficult to work out what I should be paying. As a long term customer (over 5 years) I do realise I'm not eligible for new customer deals but by reading other people's posts I'm thinking that I'm paying too much.
Current bill (I pay monthly)
1 | Plusnet Unlimited (Contracted) - Market 1 charge | 07/11/2017 | 06/12/2017 | £16.99 |
1 | Talk Evenings & Weekends Line Rent charge | 07/11/2017 | 06/12/2017 | £18.99 |
1 | Call Plan charge | 07/11/2017 | 06/12/2017 | £0.00 |
1 | Caller Display charge | 07/11/2017 | 06/12/2017 |
£0.99 |
It would appear that new contracts combine line rental and are cheaper overall but I can't work out if I could do that. I find the prices listed at https://www.plus.net/help/legal/plusnet-price-guide-for-residential-products to be confusing but it would appear to me that I'm paying far too much?
Thanks.

Hi there,
From that information it appears the initial discount/contract may have expired. It's worth talking to our customer options team to see what they can offer you in regards to a discount and new deal, they're available on 0800 013 2632

To expand on what @Chris suggested, as well as new customer discounts the headline prices you see on the sales pages are for low cost (Market 3) exchanges. Outside these areas as you are (Market 1 exchange) generally £7.50 has to be added to prices shown for current products. On your legacy product I think the difference is a slightly lower £7.00.
Additionally your legacy phone product includes evenings and weekend calls, for more recent phone products that costs £3.50.
Adding £7.50 and £3.50 makes £11.00 which accounts for much of the long-term pricing differences between what you are paying and what the sales pages show.
Hope these remarks help.

@Browni Yes, I used the older designations because they were used in the opening post (being related to legacy product descriptions).
When Ofcom did their market review in 2014 the previous Market 1, 2 and 3 exchanges were regrouped into Markets A and B. Market 3 and many Market 2 exchanges went into the low cost/unregulated Market B. Most of Market 1 and the rest of Market 2 went into the regulated/non low cost Market A.

Yes, looking at the prices again taking what you've said into account, I don't think I can save much if anything by getting a new contract. However, I'll phone up tomorrow (well, later today) and see if I can update my contract and maybe pay a little less. . .
Thanks.
