Account needs closing, please

The recent threads about closing an account opened up on behalf of someone else has prompted me to check my mother's old account which I opened for her in 2005.
Her phone was with BT and her broadband was transferred to Sky a few years ago (I had no knowledge of this as my brother organised it) and emails were never picked up.
Anyway, her account is still active and I would like it closed - one less thing for me to worry about.
Luckily I have Power of Attorney so should be a simple matter.
Could a member of the team let me know where to send a pdf copy of the PoA so that the account may be closed.
Thanks.

Re: Account needs closing, please

I'm just finding out for you now. I believe the first port of call would be the customer options team advising them that you have PoA but let me confirm.

Re: Account needs closing, please

Thanks for the PMs, Chris.
I thought I'd reply here in case anyone else can help further as I sent an email with the PoA as a pdf  to documents@plus.net as suggested but got the following error:
Quote
A message that you sent to the following recipient could not be delivered due to a permanent error. ** The remote server 62.7.242.137 responded with: ** documents@plus.net 552:5.3.4 Message size exceeds fixed maximum message size This message was created automatically by mail delivery software on the server avasout05.

The pdf is only 11MB and I am using Outlook 2007 to send.

Re: Account needs closing, please

11MB is quite a large file to be emailing. Could you compress this into a zip file and send through that way?

11MB classed as high Shocked
The smallest I could get the zip file is just over 10 MB.
What's the maximum allowed and I could split into rar files and hope that someone at the other end would be able to combine them Undecided

Re: Account needs closing, please

Honestly I'm not sure. I'm struggling for suggestions other than breaking the pdf into 2 or 3 chunks and emailing them through that way, or sending it physically by post.

Chris could I take the liberty of PMing you the parts to combine and then pass to the relevant department, please?

Re: Account needs closing, please

Is uploading to some webspace and emailing a link to the document an option?  If you zip it with a password and send the password in the email it will prove that you are the source of the file?
Alternatively PDF Compressor

Thanks for the suggestion pwatson.
I have uploaded it to dropbox and sent a link and password.
Let's hope that suffices Smiley
Cheers.

Re: Account needs closing, please

I presume you scanned it - what resolution was it scanned at?

Originally scanned at 300dpi but copied to 70dpi before creating the pdf for emailing.

Re: Account needs closing, please

I'm betting you scanned it as a jpg and left it as 32 bit colour. If you'd scanned it as a group 4 tif (or converted it that format) which is 1 bit black/white you typically would get a file around 100KB per A4 page depending upon how much print was on the page.
150dpi would probably be about right for what you needed which would give a much smaller file size.

Re: Account needs closing, please

I wanted to keep the colour but reduced the resolution and dpi size.
The resultant jpgs were between 500 and 800KB.

Re: Account needs closing, please

@Chris Just wondering how frequently documents@plus.net is monitored?
I did ask for conformation that the file has been received.
