Acceptable and forbidden counties in 'update details' form

I recently updated my details - I just wanted to change my non-Plusnet e-mail address.
When I clicked on 'update' the change was not accepted and I got a message saying I needed to enter my county. However, the county was already correctly entered, either via the postcode finder or  from a previous update, as 'Brighton & Hove'. Apparently the 'Update Details' form doesn't recognise the unitary authority of Brighton & Hove (or maybe it just doesn't like the ampersand - I didn't test that). It's fine with East Sussex, though. I don't mind either way, and if Plusnet ever sends me an actual letter I suspect Royal Mail could work out where I live.
It's just odd that Brighton & Hove was OK in the details database until I tried to update another field.

Re: Acceptable and forbidden counties in 'update details' form

Looks as though PlusNet need to update their system. The "county" is no longer required by the Post Office (and hasn't been for years). It is recommended (required?) however, that the "Post Town" be included:

Re: Acceptable and forbidden counties in 'update details' form

Hi there,
I've fed back on this internally and we've had a quick look at what's going on. I'm afraid I can't say anything will happen any time soon as everything is working, however if it's causing randomly confusing issues like this it isn't ideal.
