2nd Year Fibre price increase

Why should plus net not offer me the same Fibre Broadband price as I was on for my first year?

Why should I have to pay £2.49-2.99 a month more than new customers.

I pay my line rental upfront and am also a a PN mobile customer.

Surely I should be offered at least the best current price when I can get other deals that work out a few £ cheaper

a month that even the PN 'new customer' price which I am not even being offered.

Re: 2nd Year Fibre price increase

Welcome to the forum. How did you ask for the best price? Ring back and select the 'I'm thinking of leaving' option. Quote the competitors price and ask the Plusnet Agent to match it. Don't accept the first offer if it's not good enough. You never know!

Ah, just remember that the 'I'm thinking of leaving' group seem to have more negotiating authority than the normal sales brigade.

Looks like a change is to be forced on all of them. About time too this nonsense was ended.

No doubt it will be followed by the usual "look what we are doing for our customers".

Re: 2nd Year Fibre price increase

The problem with that is it is likely to mean price rises for all.  The same costs will be involved, and the same profits will be sought.  So the average price paid across all customers will need to remain the same.  If there are fewer customers paying the "standard price" then all others will need to rise.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: 2nd Year Fibre price increase

As I see it Plusnet will not be able to offer reductions to attract new customers, so new customers will have to pay the same standard price as existing customers who simply renew their contract. However, I'm not convinced that it will prevent existing customers from negotiating a reduced price if they and Plusnet choose to haggle.

However, no doubt prices will rise and there will be less customer churn, which is probably the opposite effect to what the regulators have in mind. However those who possibly can't be bothered to negotiate a new contract price (should the opportunity survive) will have the satisfaction of knowing that the higher price that they are paying is the same as for new customers.

"A trade group has also raised concern that small internet providers that specialise in serving business customers might struggle with the cost and complexity of adapting their systems to meet the rules."

Some large ISPs struggle with new systems!

Ain't that the truth (I can't for the life of me think whom you might be referring to)!

Seriously though, I thought PN advertised nearly a year ago that customers would be reminded in advance that their contract was coming to an end.

Re: 2nd Year Fibre price increase

For clarification, fixed price contracts and end of contract account review only came into play for any new contract terms which started on or after 8th August 2018.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.
