can't dial certain Irish numbers

I have a very odd problem dialling a couple of Irish numbers from the UK on plusnet. The call fails with an English recorded message that the call... "cannot be connected".

My partner, who's also on plusnet, gets the same message. It's reproducible every time.

Except, another Irish number - which uses the same area code - does connect ok.

When I try from a BT line all the numbers ring ok. Then again a VOIP app also had no problems. And finally I tried a friend's vodafone mobile and they connected ok as well.

So I've raised the issue with plusnet, given them the telephone numbers, and now been told they'll only escalate the matter, if I collate an awful lot of technical information about the attempted calls.

It seems that the issue - a reproducible fault every time - could easily be checked by... erm, attempting the calls themselves.

Re: can't dial certain Irish numbers

Thanks for your post @18282115 and welcome to our Community Forums.

I'm sorry to see you're having issues with calling certain Irish numbers and apologies for the delayed response.

If you haven't had this sorted yet, could private message me the number in question along with the following details (to pass our data protection checks) so we can take a closer look.

+Your mobile number

+Your full name

+Your full address

+Are you the account holder?

+Your date of birth

+Last 2 digits of your bank account number

+Last 2 digits of your bank sort code

When private messaging me, please include a link to this thread as our staff private messages go through a centralised system internally so I might not actually personally message you back. Although just a few of us monitor our Community Forums so there’s a good chance I’ll pick it up.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.
