Why no support for SMS short codes?

I am getting texts from a reputable company that I no longer deal with. The texts include how to stop getting the texts by sending STOP to a five digit number. But when I try it does not work, searching for a reason I find "We currently do not support this feature for business reasons, but it is under review for future development."

This is daft, it is a standard thing that works on every other network that I, or anyone in my family have ever used but PN just say "we don't do it".

Re: Why no support for SMS short codes?

Hi scubamad,

Thanks for getting in touch with us!

I completely understand how frustrating this can be, especially when trying to stop the subscription to these short code services however, as you have been advised, this is a service that we don't currently support.

We do advise to contact the service in which you're trying to un-subscribe by calling or through their website directly.

We cannot guarantee that this will be implemented in the future however, it has been fed back to the relevant department for review.
