Why has my contract started before I have even received my SIM?

So I ordered a new PlusNet SIM only contract on the 6th of Jan.

My bank account was debited on the 7th - same day they dispatched the SIM - so even before I received it!

Today is the 9th - Postie has been and gone - no SIM - so the next earliest is likely to be Monday 11th if I am lucky.

Which means Plusnet have already started the contract 4 days before I may even get the SIM.

Not the kind of service I expected from PlusNet - honest Yorkshire credentials?

I understand other companies may also start the contract the day after they post the SIM - but then I would normally get the SIM the very next day - which is unlikely under the current Covid19 situation.
