Beware of Plusnet's extortionate 10p/MB data charge!
I have a SIM only deal which gives me 10GB/month for £10, which I changed a week ago to 12GB for £10, which is great value.
I have my phone set to alert me prior and then eventually stop my mobile data at that limit. I do realise that my phone and Plusnet's recording of my data may sightly vary.
Today, I received my bill for last month and it shows an 'out of plan' charge of £14.66 for 191MB data. Since I had my cap set at £10 they are only actually charging me £9.99 to keep it within my £10 cap. Even still, this is ridiculous level of charging for that small amount of data!
12GB for £10 is great, but using their 10p/MB charging for exceeding your plan, that same 12GB would cost £120!!! While I expect to pay above the usual rate for being outwith my limit that level is simply extortionate!
I know that I could have purchased a bolt-on , but I was not aware that I had indeed exceeded my limit.
Lesson learnt! I have now set my cut-off at a couple of hundred MB below my limit and also reduced my cap to £2.
