Weird issue regarding international texts

Hi,

This might be a bit of a long shot, but I was wondering if someone had ideas on what could be happening. I have a PlusNet Mobile account and have been trying to exchange SMS texts with a cousin of mine who lives in Cyprus, and is with the main provider there, called Cyta.

He can get my texts, but when he replies back I don't get his.

If he texts another number on the EE network, the messages also don't get delivered.

He has tried using his SIM card in a different device, and the problem persists, so it's not an issue with the phone.

Texts from other Cypriot networks do get delivered to me.

In general, it sounds like a breakdown between Cyta and EE, which however is really odd as they are both major networks, plus I haven't seen this being reported somewhere online.

My cousin is trying to get to the bottom of this with Cyta but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere, so I'm wondering if you have any ideas.

I'm sorry for the problem they are having with sending through SMS to you. As your service is working fine and the blockage is from their side it is their provider that would need to investigate this as they are the only ones that can locate the issue. 

Have you looked at any third party apps that use wireless or data connections such as Whatsapp?

Thank you. I suspected as much. I will let him know. Yes, we do use WhatsApp, it is just a bit odd that SMS doesn't seem to be working.

It is defo odd and it seems to be getting stuck on their network somewhere. His phone provider should be able to trace the routing with examples. 

I would tell them to persevere and be firm with them to get this moving.
