Voicemail Icon remains on Phone Notification

I have recently joined Plusnet.  I continuously get the voicemail icon on my android phone even though there are no messages and even had my voicemail turned off by Plusnet.  This has still not cured the problem.  I have spoken to my phone manufacturer who suggest to factory reset my phone, which I did, but no success.  Only way is to clear the data within the phone app., but to do this everytime I switch on the phone is a bore!  Is there any advise to fix this.  I have called Plusnet numerous time and they cant provide any fixes.

Many thanks Ashleigh for your reply. I am using Alcatel one touch idol 3 phone.

Would be great if you could advise how to reset network on my phone.

Ashleigh is away from her desk at the moment so I'll pick this up for her. There is something you can try to remove this voicemail notification, although this advice is not direct from us, other users online have found this information to be useful and it has appeared to have worked for them.

You can try the following:

1. Long-press on the notification and you should get a little "app info" box. Hit that, then hit "force stop". If the app info box doesn't appear, go into Settings -> Application Manager -> All, find the Phone app, and force stop it. 

Users have also advised that under the "force stop" tab, there is a check box which says "show notifications", make sure that this isn't ticked.

If this doesn't work for you, send me a PM and I'll be able to look into this further.

i have this problem too on a sony z5 esp annoying as I have a smartwatch and constantly get notifications I have tried al the below to fix without sucess
