Upgrading 12M SIM only contract

I have a 12M SIM only contract for my daughter's phone which doesn't end until March 2022. She now has to use her phone a lot for 6th form work (school WiFi is terrible), so I phoned to see if I could upgrade to more data - something like the 30GB Black Friday deal.

The chap on the phone told me I couldn't do that without breaking the contract which would cost me £28.  When I quoted the Plan upgrade FAQs which says "You can change to an applicable higher priced plan at any time during your contract, and with our 12 month contract you get even more flexibility. These allow you to move to a higher or lower plan, so long as you don’t go lower than your original"

The mobile T&Cs also say "If you are within your minimum term you can change to a higher priced plan allowance without extending the length of your minimum term or incurring early termination charges. You can subsequently switch to an alternative plan of equal or higher value to your original minimum term plan without extending the length of your minimum term or incurring termination charges" I was told that only applies to 30 day contracts as that is the minimum term.  But it isn't my minimum term

Does anyone know if what I was told is correct?  If it is, I can't see how it can be described as flexible, or in line with the FAQs and T&Cs.

Ah, thanks - I didn't see this.  It seems it is possible then, so I will try again and see if I get a different answer from a different person.

I would defiantly try again.

Call 500 from your PN mobile then you are "thinking of leaving "

I have upgraded before doing that with no problem

Let us know the outcome

Re: Upgrading 12M SIM only contract

Well I tried again via twitter, and a very helpful person has switched me to the Black Friday deal and credited the termination charge as a goodwill gesture, so an excellent result, sorted very quickly.

*Appears out of the shadows*

I think the issue here was that you’d have been upgrading from a 12 month to 30 day contract as the Black Friday deals unless I’m mistaken are all 30 day’s.

I’m glad I was able to resolve this for you though. Smiley

Let me know if there’s anything else you’d need help with.
