Unsolicited survey from TakePartInResearch

Received an unsolicited email from takepart@takepartinresearch.co.uk titled 'Plusnet Invites You to Take Part in Research', and referring particularly to Plusnet mobile.

It clearly says, 'You are receiving this email because you opted in via our website. '

I certainlydid not opt in, or ever have any contact with takepartinresearch. So what's that about?

It was sent to an email address I created uniquely for contact with Plusnet.

There is an Unsubscribe link, but I don't know if unsubscribing to something I never subscribed to is a good idea.

Thoughts/Advice?

Mark

Hi @markv!

Thank you for getting in touch.

I'm really sorry to hear that you have received an unwanted email.

I can certainly amend your marketing preferences to stop this happening again.

If you'd like me to do this for you, you'll need to send me a private message so we can go through some security!

You'll be able to find this option on my profile.

Thank you

-Oli

Thanks for your response Oli,

NBD; just wasn't sure if it really was legitimately connected with Plusnet.

Your reply pretty much confirms it is, so I'll just ignore it. I already have all my marketing preferences set to No Thanks... unless there are additional ones not accessible to the end user?

Thanks and best regards,

Absolutely no problem!

I imagine these emails don't count as marketing as they aren't talking about any products.

I'll definitely feed it back that we should only be sending these to customers who have confirmed they are happy to receive them! Thank you for alerting us to this.

There are no more marketing preferences visible from our end so I'm sure you're fully opted out!

Thank you

-Oli

Interesting spin. One that plusnet customers probably don't share.

Re: Unsolicited survey from TakePartInResearch

Once GDPR comes into force in May of this year Plusnet will need to be more careful with their data usage for 'Marketing' purposes.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
