USA Data Roaming

Hi Guys,

I’ve just arrived in the US and i’m here for around 3 weeks.

I currently have a plusnet sim only and from what I can see data roaming whilst here is a ridiculous £6per mb?!

Obviously rules out data roaming but other than connecting to wifi at every opportunity, does anyone know of any other options so that I can use data whilst out and about? I dont really want to get a sim as I would lose my number which defeats the object for whatsapp etc whilst here..

Hey, sadly I don’t believe there’s a way you’ll be able to use your mobile abroad and not incur roaming charges unless you buy a sim that’s native to the US or use WiFi.

Appreciate the inconvenience though in telling everybody a new temporary number while you’re away.

What I did when I visited Aus  a few years ago was to buy a local sim, insert it into a spare phone I brought with me and set up a local hotspot for us all to share.

Possibly a bit late for you now, but unless anyone come up with a better idea!
