TCL 30SE - TCL UI update v4.0.1AC0 broke Mobile Data

Last Thursday (Nov 10 2022) after streaming Internet radio most of the day on Mobile Data I noticed a new UI update for my TCL 30SE. Updated later and all seemed well.  Following day I noticed my WhatsApp message were not been sent, didn't think much until I was away all weekend when I needed Mobile Data and it just wouldn't work.  Phone and SMS still worked.

Tried all the normal things, reset Network Communications,  Reset Mobile completly, My SIM card in different phone (SIM card worded as expected), someone elses SIM card (different network) in TCL 30SE mobile (also worked correctly).  So my SIMS card in the TCL SE30 the Mobile Data simply does not work

Contacted TCL about the UI update and problem and after an email tennis exchange seem to be saying it could be magnet damage on the SIM card.

I'm at a bit of a dead end at the moment with them because they have asked me to do the following first:

"If the issue persists with the original SIM card, I recommend you try a different one from the same Network Operator.
If the mobile data is not working on the other SIM card, but calls and messages are working, contact the Network Operator and ask for the APN settings."

So based on what they are asking:

1. How do I go about getting a new SIM card

2. What are the APN settings and how do I set that up.

Many thanks for you understanding and very much look forward to your reply

Hiya @garypagett,

I'm so sorry for the hassle this is causing and for the issue this has been ongoing.

You can find the APN settings here and if you can PM you full name and your mobile number so I can arrange a new sim.

Send a Personal Message

Support staff might ask for private information to be sent via a Personal Message (PM) which new users might not know how to do. Further to that, new users might not have attained sufficient ranking to send PMs:-

  • Have made 5 or more posts
  • Have logged in (and out) at least twice and made 3 posts

Having attained the ranking a PM is sent as follows:-

  1. Click on the staff member's name in the left panel

  2. Click on SEND PRIVATE MESSAGE on the right

Note that PMs sent to one staff member are visible to all staff members to provide support continuity across working rosters.

@garypagett

Do you have no mobile data at all, or just an issue accessing SOCIAL services as being discussed here - https://community.plus.net/t5/Mobile/Cannot-access-Facebook-Insta-using-Plusnet-Data/m-p/1899744#M23... - might this be the same issue coincident with your upgrade?
