Re: Short Code numbers - Will they work anytime soon?

I'd like to see this implemented sometime too. It's not a "I need this right now" feature (atleast not for me) but it is really annoying receiving a text message that requires a reply to a short code number knowing you aren't going to be able to do it

Re: Short Code numbers - Will they work anytime soon?

Hi - I would also like to add a request for short code numbers. Could it not be offered as an add-on for a nominal extra fee? There are so many organisations that use them that it really is becoming an essential feature. If people can't confirm their NHS appointments because you don't offer this then I think Plusnet Mobile needs to seriously rethink its policy.

Perhaps the NHS needs to rethink it's policy? There will be a lot of NHS users who do not have access to a mobile phone, let alone one that supports short codes.

You have to register your number, as I have, and I didnt know that they dont work with plusnet as they worked fine with ee - who plusnet use.

I'm with @Browni on this one.

I won't go into the detail, but I have to visit the hospital quite often.

It's good to get a text to remind you, but you shouldn't have to contact them unless you can't make it. I am sure there will be a landline number you can use to do so.

You probably belong to the group that demanded CLI for free, well that's now inclusive but EVERYBODY'S phone bill increased as a result.

Nope, but sure glad someone did. Wouldn't want a mobile where you didn't know who was calling.

Didn't know any mobile providers had NOT provided that since the previous millennium.

Perhaps Consider,

If you give up all the features of a mobile phone, it wont cost you anything ....

Theres always the phone boxes on the street.

Do bare in mind that the NHS type short code responses are free,

and are a very cost effective way of managing appointments for the NHS meaning their money can be spent elsewhere.

I have no issue whatsoever with a supplier blocking premium rate short code numbers, even charities,

or charging extra to enable them (the users would be paying premium rates anyway)

Not as cost effective as not using an unnecessary system, my last hospital appointment didn't require the use of SMS.

The reason for implementing them would seem to disagree

No point discussing this further with you as you would believe the sky was green if it was printed in that rag.

Wondering why is this thread topic marked as Fixed when it clearly isn't?

Re: Short Code numbers - Will they work anytime soon?

Hi RobC,

Thanks for getting in touch with us!

The thread is marked as fixed, as there is no issue to fix with shortcode numbers, it's simply a feature on the network that we don't support.

Rest assured, if we're to implement shortcodes in the future, we'll be sure to let everyone know.
