Robo calls

Anyone know how to stop these calls. Getting quite a few per day. Always different mobile number, so can't block. Chinese voice, always goes to voicemail as I ignore call

Re: Robo calls

Hey @Tigger17,

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with these nuisance calls recently. We have a guide on our site on how to stop these, which can be found here. If most of the calls seem to be coming from abroad then your best bet would be to look at the Plusnet Call Protect feature, as it can allow you to divert international numbers to junk voicemail. We have a guide on how to do this here.

@TheMightyAJ, is that relevant to Mobile?

Re: Robo calls

@pjmarsh only to Landline I'm afraid. I see now that the thread was posted under the Mobile board, but as it wasn't specified in the OP's post I went ahead with assumption it was Landline as that's what I mostly deal with and the software we use to access the forums doesn't make it immediately apparent what board posts are on.

Still, that's my mistake, so apologies for any confusion that this might have caused.

Re: Robo calls

I'm receiving the Chinese calls on my mobile.

The incoming number displayed is always a mobile number. I now drop the calls, but then they virtually always leave a message on voicemail, which I then have to delete.

The displayed mobile number is always different, so blocking the number has no effect on stopping further calls

Re: Robo calls

They seem to arrive in bursts, you'll get one every day for a few days then they seem to stop for a couple of months.

You've almost forgotten about them, when you suddenly get another burst!

All the originating numbers are different ( spoofed ) , I've even had some with international prefixes.

Not a lot can be done about them

Re: Robo calls

Yes, I get them too.  I have silenced unknown callers and this puts them through to voice mail, I then block the number but as you say this has little effect as the number has probably been spoofed.  You can disabled voice mail but you might get the odd genuine important call eg your bank etc.  There are a number of apps you can install to block such calls eg Robokiller, True caller, some are free others you pay a small subscription - I haven't tried the apps but might be worth exploring. Silencing unknown callers appears to work reasonably OK for me.
