Roaming data charges despite phone settings

My latest bill includes some (very small, but non-zero) charges for roaming data, during a time when I was abroad, and had mobile data turned off on my phone. The itemized bill shows 0MB, and charges of a few pence on each of several days. How can this happen?

I am very sorry to hear there have been charges applied to your account when you had your mobile data turned off. We'd be happy to investigate this for you, in order to do this please private message:

-your full name
-your full address including postcode
-your mobile number
