Roaming Information - Chile

This thread is posted to try and add some actual usable information, beyond the standard Plusnet response to roaming issues. I hope that information like this will be added to the roaming FAQ if there is a good response!

Roaming appears to be totally unusable in Chile.

Two phones tested (Samsung S6 Edge Plus, Alcatel Pixi 4). Neither connect to any network so far in Chile, both saying "Emergency Calls Only".

SMS: Can neither send nor receive.

Phone: Can neither send nor receive.

Tested in Puerto Natales, Punta Arenas, and Santiago (so far).

Please add any more information or fixes!

Re: Roaming Information - Chile

Hi jimkeir,

Thanks for taking the time out to get in touch with us.

As you're aware, we can't guarantee service availability abroad, as we don't have full control of the signal strength, functionality with the masts and local network in that particular area.

Having said this, we do take on board all feedback that is put forward to us and we appreciate any responses from the community.

Re: Roaming Information - Chile

Just a bit more information.

I ended up getting a local SIM, for the network that Plusnet has a roaming agreement with, and the phone connects immediately and has a good, stable high-speed data connection.

Sorry, Plusnet, it's an admin issue, not a coverage issue.
