RCS support?

When will RCS be enabled on Plusnet?   My handset is ready to go (pixel2) and it's just the mobile operator that needs to switch it on.    SMS is so dated....

Re: RCS support?

Hi there mgillespie1! We currently don't have any immediate plans to support Rich Communication Services, but we'll be sure to pass your suggestion on and you'll be the first to hear if this is a feature we implement in future.

Re: RCS support?

That's pretty concerning given that pretty much every other major network around the globe is onboard, with only EE missing from the list...

https://www.gsma.com/futurenetworks/rcs/universal-profile/

I guess itsi handy we are on a monthly rolling contract, so if EE disappears units own behind because it didn't keep with the times, it's easy to jump ship....

Having modern messaging is pretty important.

Re: RCS support?

Sounds behind the times to me when you already have WhatsApp, telegram, Facebook messenger etc.
These all support the stuff RCS does and without apple support that’s a big chunk of market missing

Re: RCS support?

I don't do Facebook, or WhatsApp and never have done, the Facebook privacy concerns are too big.

Besides, having to use different apps to talk to different people is a non starter, which is where SMS comes in, it's the universal fallback, but now very dated. The whole point of RCS is it's universal and is a SMS replacement.

Re: RCS support?

Is it not only Vodafone that supports it in the country?

UK is about 40%, surely that's the number a uk provider is concerned about

You're so cheap lol

Are you willing to pay a premium for RCS?

Re: RCS support?

I would consider switching to another provider, even if they were more expensive, just to get universal messaging where it doesn't matter what app someone has, yes I would..

Re: RCS support?

Currently one of the many resellers that use vodaphone I guess.

Re: RCS support?

I fell out with Vodaphone in 2001 due to their incompetence, good luck!

Re: RCS support?

Not vodaphone, but a reseller, like Plusnet is a EE reseller.

There are several all sub £10 with decent data and call allowances. I need to check coverage
