Plusnet network access "forbidden"

My phone network access was showing as "forbidden" again yesterday.

why does this happen?

The phone was showing strong signal strength, but also a tiny "x" indicating not connected. When I went into the SIM settingsi I could see loads of networks all showing "forbidden"  - this included Plusnet

I know that the phone maintains a list  of forbidden networks (FPLMN list) but that shouldn't include +net

I fixed this by de-selecting automatic connection and manually selecting +net

There are loads of reports on this forum of network access showing forbidden, and I reported it previously in this post, but the response seems to be "it happens... live with it"

Re: Plusnet network access "forbidden"

This site explains how the FPLMN list is maintained https://onomondo.com/blog/how-to-clear-the-fplmn-list-on-a-sim/

...so it looks like PlusNet must be denying access at some point, so the next time it tries to connect it can't because it's now forbidden

The FPLMN list is a dynamic list that is maintained by the device's cellular module.

When a module attempts to connect to a network and is denied, it will write that network to the FPLMN list on the SIM, thus preventing it from attempting to connect to that network again.
