Please help: No signal on phone so can't ring for help

I have had no phone signal for over 24 hours. I live in the middle of London, so it's not a network issue I assume.

I private messaged a plusnet helper yesterday. He replied at first with a suggestion, but I think he must now be off for the weekend. I also sent messages on FB messenger but have not heard back. I also tried Twitter but again nothing.

I've powered the 'phone on and off, and I've opened and closed the SIM card drawer - but still no signal.

I'm getting desperate. I can't believe it's possible for this to happen - no signal for 24 hours and no one replying to requests for help.

Rather than assume, why not check coverage for issues:

https://coverage.ee.co.uk/coverage/ee

or

https://www.plus.net/mobile/coverage-checker/

Thanks but those are just generic websites saying what you can expect to get (which in my case says great signal).

It's not real time. And central London wouldn't be down for 24 hours in any case

OK, humour me,, show what it shows with your post code when you check status?

The EE checker has a 'Check Status' button that is real time so will give you information.  I don't see why you think Central London will be any better than anywhere else on the network for reliability.  In fact in Central London there are lots of cells, which cover very small areas and therefore I would have thought there is less concern about fixing faults as you will have lots more cells around you to connect to.

Can you connect if you walk half a mile down the road ?  Fairly easy way to determine if it's the Phone/SIM or local network conditions.

I hadn't seen the check status button (so thanks again) - but now that I have, it says no known problems

As mentioned above, I hadn't seen the check status button yesterday. But I have now and it says no known problems.

I was out Friday night and there was no signal wherever I went.

Re: Please help: No signal on phone so can't ring for help

The problem is now solved thanks.

A friend rang me on messenger and then rang plusnet on his landline so that I could speak to them.

The problem was the SIM card.

Fortunately a couple of weeks ago plusnet mistakenly sent me two SIM cards. I kept the second one, and my phone worked after I took the old one out and put the new one in. I say old - it's only 2 weeks old. Anyhow, problem solved.
