Phone not making calls in USA on Plusnet while on T Mobile

Folks Hope you can help please? I am in the USA on vacation from the UK and have had the text from Plusnet to say charges apply. Phone has selected T Mobile as local provider so looks like I am connected but for some reason I don’t have data & cannot make calls (just get cut off with two beeps). Have tried all things like international codes & switch on / off etc.  Using public Wi-Fi for this message. Any suggestions on how I fix please?  Phone worked fine when on vacation in Portugal recently….My wife is with 3 and on T mobile with same phone set up in USA and has no issues whatsoever.Thanks D
