Phone Insurance asking for Proof of Usage for claim

Hi,

My phone broke on Thursday and my insurance is asking for a proof of usage from my network provider. I have copy and pasted exactly what they are asking for below.

Proof of Usage (mobiles / SIM devices only)

Please provide proof of usage in respect of this device. You need to contact your network provider to request this. This is not an itemised phone bill. Proof of usage should include the device make, model, IMEI number and the first and last date the device was used. This obtainable for all types of contract, including “pay as you go”.

Having called the PlusNet customer service, they advised they do not carry this information, and the IMEI that is shown is a generic one of 123456789012345, although they can provide details of the first SMS sent and the last time a phone call was made.

My insurance company (Taurus/Trusted insurance) won't accept this, is there anything PlusNet can do - do they not track IMEI numbers to recognise when one is blacklisted, etc? so therefore they must know what IMEI numbers have connected to their network?

Re: Phone Insurance asking for Proof of Usage for claim

Fix

No longer needed, spoke to someone at Taurus who said not a problem if it is with Plusnet., and they manually approved the claim.

I'll leave this here incase anyone also has the same question.
