Newcomer seeks advice re 2FA problems in poor reception area

I'm  a new comer to PNMob.

I live in an area which has poor coverage - regardless of provider.

Some outdoor reception  but nothing inside thick stone walled cottage.

I have been reviewing Internet security for all my devices and have started using 2 factor authentification on some sites.

However 2FA systems  which attempt to text my mobile just don't reach me.

Is there any way of boosting indoor reception or any other work around?

If you're talking about Short-Code Messaging then Plusnet Mobile doesn't currently support this.

No not that sophisticated.

  Sites  trying to authenticate my identity often send a numerical code  via sms  which I then have to enter into a website  box to confirm receipt ( and thus confirm identity).  The SMS often doesn't get through to me.

SMS isn't the best way to do 2FA anyway, as it's susceptible to MiTM attacks. Much more secure to use an authenticator app that generates the one-time passcodes (where supported)

you're talking about Short-Code Messaging then Plusnet Mobile doesn't currently support this.

It's only sending to short codes that's not supported, incoming SMS from short codes is supported.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Hi there.

Unfortunately I don't think there's anything I can recommend from a staff perspective regarding boosting your signal, but it may be worth looking at using an authentication app like @DaveyH has suggested.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

@MisterW

You're right, of course - no idea why I thought that. SorryEmbarrassed
