New mobile SIM instantly had cold callers!!

This was interesting.

I just signed up to having the new mobile deal for £10 a month.

New sim arrived with new number which was activated on the Friday. I text PORT so I could retain my old number but had to wait a couple of days for it to be activated which happened on the Monday.

But before my old number was re-assigned to me I kept getting 0121 cold calls on the new number given to me by Plusnet. I had not used this number for any calls as I was waiting for my old number. 

They were something to do with the usual car accident [-Censored-].

So why and how did I get cold calls on the new sim number that hadn't even been used yet???

It's new to you, that doesn't mean it isn't a recycled number.

Could also be random dialers.

Yes I agree with the two guys above, it's either a random number dialer or the number has been recirculated. This often happens when someone changes their SIM card but chooses to keep their existing number. You should be able to block some numbers on your mobile if they're a nuisance. Obviously doesn't help if they're withheld though.
