Network provider on my iPad with Plusnet sim still showing as old provider

I had a data sim for my iPad with EE but switched to Plusnet Mobile because I got a better deal. I took out the old EE sim and installed the Plusnet sim, and although my iPad now shows my new number, the network provider is still showing as EE. What's going on? Does EE still provide the network? It should all be much clearer.

From macworld.co.uk :

EE will happily unlock your iPad for you if your bills are paid up and you've had the account for at least six months, but it'll cost you £8.99, and EE says it will take 10 days after the request has been submitted.

@pfgpowell287

Plusnet piggy back on the EE network.

Re: Network provider on my iPad with Plusnet sim still showing as old provider

@Champnet  For information if you have an EE account and you meet the requirements then EE will unlock a registered phone for free. My son recently passed his old iPhone on to me and I rang EE to get it unlocked. If I did it I had to pay and it would take a few weeks. The very helpful EE agent sent a text to son with the necessary links which he followed and the phone was immediately unlocked with no charge.

@pfgpowell287  Is the SIM working? If so and it’s showing the new number then it’s been transferred?

II don’t use Plusnet mobile but I have an unlocked MiFi unit that runs on  a Giffgaff SIM. They piggyback on to O2. When I switch it on it identifies the network as O2.

It was never locked to EE. The iPad was bought unlocked.

If it's working then you haven't got a problem. As @Baldrick1 explained Plusnet uses the EE network.
